Uploading files
How to upload files
Upload of files
There are several ways of uploading data to piqlConnect.
- Uploading data through Package in the web interface
- Upload files using drag and drop
- Uploading data using an FTP transfer
- Uploading data using the REST API
- Uploading data by sending an external hard drive
I. Uploading data through the Packages in the piqlConnect
When uploading files through the web interface, there is support for a few different options.
- Upload files: You can upload a single file or multiple files at once. By clicking Upload files you will get access to the Windows/Finder window on your computer. Here you can choose one or multiple files and click ‘Open’. The files will start to upload.
- Upload folder: You can upload one folder by click the ‘Upload folders’ button. Then you will access the Windows/Finder window and can choose one Folder to ‘Open/Upload’. You can only choose one Folder at a time, but one Folder can ha multiple Folders within and will upload the folders and files in the same folder-based structure.
- Create folder: You can generate your own folder within the interface if you would like a different structure in piqlConnect than what you have on your computer. You click on Create a folder and then give it a Folder name.
Upload files and folders in Folder: If you want to upload files in a folder (either that you have uploaded or created) you need to right click on the Folder. Then you get three options.
- Create subfolder.
- Upload files into folder.
- Upload folders into folder.
II. Upload files using drag and drop
You can upload files and both single folder and multiple folders using the drag and drop functionality from your desktop.
Just open the package that you would like to drag the files/folders to, and then go to an explorer window on your computer and you can select the files/folder you would like to drag. Once you have selected your objects, you can just drag and drop them into the area of where your files are and they will be uploaded as normal.
This is the only way of uploading multiple folders using the web interface. !
III. Upload files through FTP
Our piqlConnect has support for uploading through an FTP interface using an Azure interface.
The process is as follows;
- Create all the empty packages in piqlConnect you want to upload to.
- Once the packages are ready, Piql will share with the user the FTP credentials to access all the packages.
- Use your FTP client to start uploading data in the packages. NB! Please don’t upload via browser or modify the packages until I confirm that the FTP transfer is complete.
- Once the FTP transfer is completed, notify us and Piql will complete the process of moving them into the piqlConnect account in the respective packages.
- Your data is ready to be submitted to be stored on piqlFilm.
We recommend using FileZilla as the FTP client: https://filezilla-project.org/
IV. Uploading data using REST API
Data can also be used using our REST API. For more information on how to set up an API call to our REST interface, have a look at our REST documentation here:
You can also get in touch with support@piql.com for further questions around how to set that up.
V. Transfer of data using an external hard drive.
It is also possible to send us an external hard drive with the data and we will help upload the data to piqlConnect.
Send the data with instructions on the desired structure to:
Piql AS
Grønland 56,
3045 Drammen,
Norway.
Once the data has been uploaded and submitted to piqlFilm we can return the external hard drive at the owner’s expense.
